River Reflections continues; grand finale event
After nearly a year of implementing the River Reflections Mokelumne River Arts Project, AmadorArts and its project partners invite the public to “Party at Pardee.” On Saturday, May 9, from 2 to 5 pm, the finale event will focus on the performing arts to celebrate the conclusion of the project which began last summer. What better place than at the nearby reservoir which holds the Mokelumne River before it begins its journey to the East Bay…the beautiful Pardee Recreation Area, 4900 Stony Creek Rd., outside of Ione, CA. The human river water fountain, aka Leslie Vasquez, will greet guests.
The River Reflections Project began in July, 2014, with a call for artists to participate. Besides visual artists and poets, categories also included musicians and dancers. Therefore, the May 9th event will include these performances: the world premier of an original dance choreographed by Cara Agustin and performed by 10 dancers from The Studio; music by Adam Gottstein, Mountain Melody Women’s Chorus, Megan O’Keefe, and Kat Everitt’s Mokelumne River Song performed by Nedra and Julio; plus more. All awards in the overall competition will be announced, including the Popular Choice Awards.
Suggested donation is just $10. Take in the gorgeous Pardee setting while enjoying fresh locally-sourced finger food by Rosebuds Café and fruit-infused waters. Local wines and beer will be available for purchase. Anybody who treasures the Mokelumne River can and should be there.
Here’s your final opportunity before the last chapter is closed, but not forgotten, on the provocative “River Reflections – Mokelumne River Arts Project.” Direct any questions by email to info@amadorarts.org or call 209-267-9038.
