Mokelumne advocate to receive river award
After the daytime event May 11, the Capital River Awards will honor Senator Fran Pavley, former Assemblyman Roger Dickinson, Assemblyman Das Williams and 25-year Mokelumne River advocate Katherine Evatt, the president of the Foothill Conservancy. The festive event will be held at the Capitol Ballrooms from 5 pm to 7 pm. Tickets are $50 each, but are on sale today — Earth Day — for half off. Proceeds benefit Friends of the River’s work to protect the state’s rivers from destructive dams
