CSERC – make a difference for important habitats in our Stanislaus National Forest

CSERC has lots of great projects coming up in June where volunteers and others who care about wildlife habitats can make a difference.

On June 8th

1.   CSERC and volunteers will construct and install barrier fences to protect meadows, springs, and archeological sites near the beautiful Clavey River.  Impacts from off-road vehicle use threaten this sensitive and ecologically important area.

On June 15th

2.    The Crab Meadow fen needs our help!  We’ll be putting up fencing to protect this wetland habitat from livestock damage.

On June 29th

3.     This project will block two off-road vehicle routes near the Clavey River, totaling about 1.5 miles.  Volunteers will spread debris/slash and wood straw on the routes, and install vehicle restriction signs.

All of these projects are also a great place to recreate afterwards. For ideas on what to do in the area, ask the CSERC staff!

It’s important to sign up in advance so we can let you know exactly where to meet, and so we can contact you if there are any last minute changes (it also helps me anticipate whether we will have enough help).  Carpools will be organized for those who are interested!

Email Julia Stevens (julias@cserc.org) or call (209-586-7440) if you have questions or would like to sign up for any of these great projects.  Don’t miss out on the fun- I hope to see you there!
