Cosgrove Creek Flooding – History and References

Cosgrove Creek in Valley Springs has been flooding for decades, and there has been a long history of various agencies attempting to address the issue. January of 2023 brought even more flooding without answers. Below you will find a wealth of references that help tell the story of Cosgrove Creek and what has been done – and what hasn’t been done – to protect the lives and properties of Calaveras County residents living in the floodplain.

2022

In September 2022 the Board of Supervisors reviewed its Legislative Priorities, which includes addressing the flooding on Cosgrove Creek

2011

In July, 2011 the BOS approved an amendment to the contract for the Cosgrove Creek feasibility study. The documentation acknowledges the increased cost of the study would include “no cost to the General Fund.”
