CCWD’s Lake Tulloch pipeline extension completed

Enterprise report / October 27, 2015

The Lake Tulloch pipeline extension, a Calaveras County Water District capital project that began construction earlier this month, has been completed.

Joel Metzger, community relations manager for the CCWD, said that the pipeline has been in operation for a little over a week, and is undergoing routine testing and operational adjustments. Metzger said the last official cost estimate for the Lake Tulloch project was $650,000, but the final cost is expected to be less.

Metzger said that the pipeline extension will provide reliable water service to 7,000 CCWD customers in the Copperopolis area.

“If the severe drought continues, there is no guarantee that Tulloch will not be drawn down further in future years than it was this year,” Metzger said. “To prepare for all scenarios and in order to ensure that reliable water service and fire flows can be provided to the Copperopolis community, the district has extended its intake.”

“This will ensure that CCWD has access to water even if the reservoir is drawn down to minimum pool,” he said.
