California extends mandatory water cuts despite growing snowpack

California’s drought regulators agreed Tuesday to extend water conservation mandates through the end of October. The decision came in spite of increasing evidence that El Niño is delivering better-than-average precipitation, including an encouraging measurement of the Sierra Nevada snowpack recorded just hours earlier. USDA Seeks Applications for Grants to Help Repair Housing in Rural Communities, Deadline Extended

Snow Survey Results; Urban Water Conservation Numbers

Rainfall and the Sierra Nevada snowpack’s water content are both markedly improved this water year, and storage in the state’s major reservoirs also has increased significantly since January 1.
