Beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors! September 26 CPC hike up to Caples Lake.

Marian was high bidder for a guided High Sierra Hike at CAP/CPC’s 2017 annual fundraiser, and was kind enough to invite others along. On September 26, Tom Infusino led Marian and friends on a lovely 5-mile fall hike at Caples Lake up Hwy. 88, elevation 7,800 ft., in the Mokelumne Wilderness. Friends included Janis & John (and dog Maddie), Colleen, Patricia, and Sunyoo (and dog Zino).
We stopped for breaks along the shore of the lake, and were enlightened by Tom with educational talks on the subject of water–the history of Caples Lake and dam, and the water agency disputes; water rights in California and geology; the history of the long battle and recent success in designation of the Mokelumne as a State Wild & Scenic River, and more.
At the far end of Caples Lake, we stopped for lunch, and spotted a bald eagle nearby in a tall tree. Tom gave more educational water talks. We were fortunate to see the aspens beginning their fall color show.
What a great CPC hike outing! Thank you Marian and Tom!
