Action Alert: Encourage the Board of Supervisors to Approve the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Measures
On November 7, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will receive a list of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures that, when implemented, will be sufficient to meet the County’s reduction targets by 2030. This is the culmination of over three years of work inventorying GHG emissions, identifying reduction targets, and refining programs to reduce GHG emissions. Click here to view the measures and click here to view the Planning Commission’s letter to the Board. They can also be viewed at https://planning.calaverasgov.us/Projects .
Please email your comments by November 6 to the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Director at the following addresses:
Planning Director Gabriel Elliott at: GElliott@co.calaveras.ca.us
The Board of Supervisors at:
GTofanelli@co.calaveras.ca.us
Also include the Board of Supervisors’ Administrative Staff:
‘Diane Severud’ DSeverud@co.calaveras.ca.us CORRECTION: rturner@co.calaveras.ca.us
- Thank them for coming up with a reasonable list of actions with achievable GHG reduction targets.
- Thank them for including measures to implement parts of the 2019 General Plan that are supportive of GHG reduction.
- Thank them for seeking to reduce GHG emissions predominantly through programs to support those willing to reduce GHG emissions rather than regulations to try to force those unwilling.
- Thank them for recognizing both the availability of state and federal funding to support these GHG reduction programs and the absolute necessity that the County apply to receive that funding.
Keep emails under 300 words to comply with the directive of Chairman Tofanelli.
