Oak Woodlands Management Speaker
Richard “Rick” Standiford, Ph.D., former Vice President of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Division of the University of California will speak at the Calaveras County Library on Thursday, May 23 at 3:30 p.m. A well-known researcher of oak woodlands, Dr. Standiford is currently Forest Management Specialist with the UC Oak Hardwood Management Program. He will discuss the value of oaks in the landscape, how oaks impact property values, general oak ecology and techniques for protecting and preserving oak woodlands. The program is provided by a Renewable Resources Extension Act grant and is hosted by UC Cooperative Extension Central Sierra serving Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado and Tuolumne Counties. The public is invited; there is no cost for the program. Calaveras County Library is located at the corner of Mountain Ranch and Gold Hunter Roads.
