BOS Study Session on Affordable Housing Project on February 28

The long-awaited study session on the Hillside Apartments in San Andreas is scheduled for next Tuesday, February 28 at 1:30 pm. It will be in the Calaveras County Government Center on Mountain Ranch Road, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers.

The importance of this meeting cannot be overstated.

The proposed project would preserve the 26 apartments in the complex, add 5 additional 3-bedroom apartments, dedicate 5 one-bedroom apartments to persons living with mental illnesses and create a family-oriented community center with childcare, meeting rooms, computer access and onsite social services.

The lead presenter will be Visionary Home Builders, a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) partnering with the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency on the project. Also presenting will be staff from Calaveras County Behavioral Health who are asking the Supervisors to permit the County’s housing allotment from the Mental Health Services Act to the project.

Please plan to attend and let the Supervisors know how you feel about this project.
