In July of 2025, the Calaveras County Planning Director announced to the Planning Commission and the public would soon be reviewing the latest draft of the Short-Term Vacation Rental Ordinance, and the code changes to address special events. In addition, he expects the draft Oak Ordinance to be coming to the Planning Commission before the end of the year. In August of 2025, the Planning Director told the Commission that it will also be reviewing general plan amendments due at the end of the year to address new state requirements for open space plans.
Trailing behind these efforts, eventually the Board of Supervisors will address approval of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan. While that draft plan was completed in 2023, the County asked the consultant for additional emission reduction calculations, thereby delaying the plan’s adoption.
